s,

I'll answer your question with a question: is there ever a time when the omniscient, infallible God ever speaks and that direct, specific word from God isn't infallible, universally applicable and inspired?

PS: read the review written by Christine Pack of Sola Sisters blog. Christine was heavily involved in the occult and eastern mysticism/new age practices, including automatic writing and channeling. If you won't take my word for it, at least listen to someone who has "been there, done that." You can read it here.

Sorry, it sounds like I accused you of being a skeptic in your faith. That is also too strong. I just wanted to say that her writing has grown my faith because of her example of listening to the still, small voice of Jesus through the Holy Spirit who lives in us when we believe and trust in Jesus for our salvation. Do you believe that Christians can receive direction from the Holy Spirit by listening quietly? This in itself is an act of submission because it's easier to stay busy and frantic, explaining everything away logically.

Calling it channeling is a bit harsh. It is more like giving us an example of listening time when she is reading scripture. Did you notice that Bible verses are listed? Her writings never contradict the Bible but encourage belief. Reviews like yours are plentiful in Christian writing. I need something that is an example of faith that doesn't doubt. Not a skeptics view. I find myself reading my Bible with the same kind of strong belief and rest in Jesus' love and provision for me.

These days we've scaled back our demonstrations of devotion...perhaps a more modern verse is in order:

'Suff'ring the torment of life without Facebook,
Chocoate and candies, all pastries forsook,
No wine (what a saint!), no warm feeling it brings,
That's all I can take of my favourite things!'

I agree with you about the beginnings of the designer breed. It was a very clever tactic and I have said so as well. We had a Sheprador given to us this past January, but she died of parvo about three weeks ago. Good dog, puppie and all. Destroy everything she got a hold of including my iPhone, well the Otter case anyway.
